- Are the guides free to download?
- Yes. Every guide is a free PDF — no payment required. We ask for an email so we can send the file and let you know when the underlying regulation changes.
- Where does the field data in the guides come from?
- Each field is taken directly from the EU regulation for that product category (e.g. the EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542 for batteries) and cross-checked against the active TracePass passport template for that category.
- Which product categories are covered?
- Batteries, textiles, electronics and packaging today, with more added as their delegated acts and field requirements are finalised under the EU's ESPR framework.
- Do I need a Digital Product Passport for my product?
- If you place a product in one of the regulated categories on the EU market, yes — the passport is phased in law by law. Four laws fix a date: LMT, industrial (over 2 kWh) and electric-vehicle batteries from 18 February 2027, detergents from 23 September 2029, toys from 1 August 2030 and cars and vans from 1 September 2032. Construction products have no date until a delegated act under the CPR (2024/3110) is adopted; textiles, electronics and most other categories have none until their ESPR delegated act is adopted. None of these delegated acts has been adopted yet. Each guide states the position for its category.
- How many fields does my category's passport need?
- It varies by category: the EU battery passport carries the mandatory Annex XIII fields, textiles 60, electronics 160, and packaging 64. Each guide lists every field and the regulation article that requires it.
