Do I need a DPP?

Pick a product type and answer the questions the law turns on. You get what the law says for that type of product: whether it needs a digital product passport, under which EU act and article, and from when, where a date is set.

Rule-based: every answer names the article it rests on, or says when our rules do not cover the product. It explains what the law says for a product type matching the facts you give, not your specific situation, and it is not legal advice.

1. Product type

How the check works

  1. Pick one of the product categories TracePass covers.
  2. Answer the questions the law turns on for that product, such as a battery's use or capacity. A question you leave open keeps the answer at "depends" and says on what.
  3. Read the headline: yes, no, not yet or depends, with the EU act, its article and the start date where one is set.

What a free account adds

  • The duties of each role (manufacturer, importer, distributor and others), each with the quoted article.
  • Other EU acts that also apply to the product.
  • A draft passport for the product, ready to fill in.

What the answer is, and is not

The answer is what the law says for a product type matching the facts you give. It does not assess your specific situation, and it is not legal advice. Check the cited articles before relying on it.
