Rule-based: the check names the EU act and article behind every finding, or says when the category is not yet checked. It explains what the law says for a product type matching the data you give, not your specific legal situation, and it is not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions
Which passport formats does the checker read?
TracePass JSON-LD, schema.org Product JSON-LD (with PropertyValue names matched against the template's field labels), GEFEG BatteryPass-Ready JSON, Catena-X / Battery Pass data model, UNTP verifiable credentials using the TracePass DPP-VC profile, and plain JSON keyed by our field keys. Anything else is reported as 'format not recognised'. Technical checks (HTTP/2, EN 18216, identifier) run only for a URL, not for pasted JSON.
Why are some categories marked 'not checked yet'?
Each category's check is verified against real passports before launch. Battery, textile and electronics launch first. Other categories are switched on one by one after verification.
Does the check store my passport data?
Only the passport host (the domain, not the full URL), the detected format, category, and field counts are stored — never the passport content or a full URL that might carry access tokens. Rows expire after 400 days. To enforce rate limits, your IP address is kept in a counter for up to 24 hours, then deleted.
What does the checker not do?
It does not verify that values are true (only that the field is present). It does not certify a passport or guarantee that it meets any legal requirement. It is not legal advice.
