# DPP Assistant

> Connect an AI assistant to TracePass regulatory knowledge — EU DPP scope, required fields, registry guidance, and draft passport creation.

A free AI assistant that answers EU Digital Product Passport questions, naming the article each answer rests on. Connect it to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any MCP client with a TracePass account. It creates drafts — it never publishes.

## What it is

The DPP Assistant answers what EU law says for a product type — which regulation applies, from when, which fields are required and who holds them, what changed recently, and how to register with the DPP registry. Every answer names the article it rests on, or says when our rules do not cover the product. It is not legal advice.

It is regulatory information, not legal advice. Answers are about the product type described by the facts you give; they do not assess your specific situation. The answer always carries a disclaimer and a sources list. Whenever a fact is uncertain, the assistant asks rather than guesses.

**Free with a TracePass account.** A verified, non-disposable email is required before the first answer. The daily cap is about 100 answers per company; the cap is shared across the dashboard, the API, and all MCP connections.

## How to connect

The DPP Assistant runs at `https://ai.tracepass.eu/compliance/mcp` — an OAuth-protected MCP endpoint. Add it to your AI client the same way you would add any remote MCP server:

1. Open your AI client's connector / MCP settings (e.g. Claude → Customize → Connectors → “+ Add” → “Add custom connector”; Cursor → MCP Servers → Add).
2. Paste the MCP URL: https://ai.tracepass.eu/compliance/mcp
3. Sign in with your TracePass account when prompted. If you do not have one yet, the sign-in page links to a free registration.
4. Once connected, ask any DPP question — the assistant uses the nine tools listed below to answer.

**Tip —** The connection uses OAuth (no API key needed). Verify your email in TracePass first — unverified or disposable-domain accounts cannot receive answers.

## The nine tools

Each tool answers one kind of question. You do not call them directly — the AI client picks the right one from the description you give. Read tools store the field keys and rule IDs consulted (never the values you supply) in a log retained for 400 days. Facts you state are saved to your compliance profile only if you confirm when the assistant offers to remember them.

| Tool | What it answers |
| ----------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| scope\_check | Does this product type need a DPP, from when, and the duties of each role |
| required\_fields | Required DPP fields with the EU article and (battery) who holds each one |
| what\_changed | What moved in the law and standards for your product categories |
| registry\_guidance | How to register, which identifiers and data carriers to use, and where a passport is created |
| create\_draft\_passport | Create a draft passport in your TracePass account (the only write tool — never publishes) |
| report\_answer | Flag a wrong or unclear answer for review |
| get\_profile | View the stored company facts |
| update\_profile | Save or correct company facts (role, product categories, markets, size) |
| delete\_profile | Delete the profile and every stored company fact |

## Limits

About **100 answers per day per company account**, and 30 per minute. The counter is shared across the dashboard scope checker, the API, and every MCP connection in the company. At the cap, the tool returns the reset time; the window is a rolling 24-hour period, not a fixed UTC midnight reset. Drafts follow normal plan rules — on Free, up to 3 published passports; the assistant says so plainly when the limit is reached.

A verified, non-disposable email is required before any answer is served to an OAuth-authenticated connection that sends an `X-Source: assistant` header. API-key callers and OAuth connections without that header bypass this gate.

## Privacy and your profile

The compliance profile holds **company facts only** — role, product categories, EU markets, company size, sales channels, and data systems. No personal data about individual users is ever stored in the profile. The profile is shared by everyone in the company and is visible and deletable through the `get_profile` and `delete_profile` tools, or via the v1 API endpoints `GET /api/v1/company/compliance-profile` and `DELETE /api/v1/company/compliance-profile`.

Facts you state in a conversation are saved only when the assistant explicitly offers to remember them and you confirm. The assistant never silently stores anything.

Regulatory information, not legal advice. Always check the cited articles before relying on an answer.
